Start with a task, not a technology

Write down the work you want to improve. Who does it, what information do they need, and what makes a result acceptable? A narrow workflow is easier to evaluate than a broad promise to automate a department.

Map the decisions

Separate predictable rules from judgments. Rules often belong in ordinary software. Judgment may be supported by a model, but it still needs clear boundaries. Identify the decisions that require approval before any external action happens.

Define the failure modes

List what happens when a source is stale, an integration fails, or the model cannot find evidence. Design useful fallbacks and a way for a person to take over. The exception path is part of the product.

Evaluate before expanding

Create representative examples and expected outcomes. Measure task completion, incorrect actions, and escalation quality. Expand the scope only when the workflow performs reliably against the agreed criteria.
